STORMING to yet another win on the international circuit over the new year was the super talented Sligo pony rider Senan Reape and the legendary pony Mickybo who, together, won the 128cms Championship at Liverpool International Horse Show in fine style.
The duo, who won the 128cms Championship at the RDS last August, posted their latest big win on Monday, December 31st, in the Pony of the Year Show-sponsored championship at Liverpool’s Echo Arena.
From a starting list of 21 in Liverpool, five were placed and of those, the winner and fourth place went to the only Irish pony riders in it, flying the tricolour high for their delighted families and supporters who were watching the early morning championship class in the stands.
DOUBLE JOY
Senan Reape, riding the 19-year-old gelding Mickybo, went double clear in an unbeatable time of 26.20 seconds to take the victory, while Paddy Reape was fourth with the 19-year-old gelding Heartbreaker II, both ponies owned by Jonathan Reape. Senan took the £150 top prize, while Paddy, also double clear and in a time of 31.95, won £80 for his placing.
All of the other riders in the competitive championship were listed under the British flag.
