NEWS of the latest arrival at Ronan Tynan’s Warrenstown base just missed last week’s Breeders’ 10 feature, as the fashionably late and well-named Diamond Boy colt Valentino made “a very stylish entrance at 12:02am on February 14th”.

“He was only three weeks overdue, but no one told him when he was due, so he didn’t care! He is thriving and true to his name, a little lovebug enjoying all the attention,” reports Aoife Conroy, Tynan’s stud manager.

His dam is Whosgotyanow, a five-time winner, bred by Brendan Laffan and trained during her racing career by Andrew Slattery.

The Getaway – Supreme Leader mare is “the favourite mare on the yard, don’t tell the rest of them! She is an absolute lady and a fantastic mother.”
