MILLSTREET recently hosted an Irish Pony Society (IPS) show in support of Alex Ott, who sustained spinal injuries and is undergoing treatment in Dún Laoghaire. Catherine Healy’s Polly The Pony and Sarah Healy, won the combined 143cms working hunter and judge Sarah McKeever awarded her championship ahead of Mary Corkery’s Stone Haven Cloud.
Anna Wyse’s All That Jazz landed the mini championship after winning the 123cms show hunter pony when ridden by Katie Wyse. Also in contention with a great performance was Uppocott Xotica, owned by Lorna Twomey and ridden by Meg Twomey. The Wyse family also scooped the show pony championship with Changford Leon, ridden by Katie Wyse, with Marie Collins’s Whittaker Duchess ridden by Nicola Dee standing reserve. Changford Leon took the reserve supreme championship. Emer Cunneen’s Chantilly Anchor Man won the the 153cms show hunter pony and judge Carol Adams crowned her the supreme champion title. Standing reserve was Belinda Johnston’s Honeypound Jack the Lad (Sarah Healy).
Alex Cunneen partnered Lettergesh Bobby to victory in the Connemara over-16 class and, after taking the Connemara championship, they also finished as reserve mountain and moorland champions. Standing reserve for the Connemara champion was Gooseberry Hill Horses’ Aille Fountain Breeze, while Josephine O’Driscoll’s Devonhayes Marble was crowned champion mountain and moorland after winning the under-138cms ridden pony. Devonhayes Marble was also the reserve led champion.
Olivia Marnane partnered Jenny Thomas’s Goldsworth Sir Edward to victory in the small intermediate show ridden type and the intermediate championship and were later presented with the supreme pony championship perpetual cup.
Stephenie Quill Manley won the open starter stakes with Cosford Chameleon, ridden by Tara Quill Manley, and in reserve was Liam Ruttle’s Horse & Jockey Clasper (Carol Ruttle). The young handler champion was Abbie Shannon and Treowen Chanita, owned by Mirian Shannon, while reserve was Zachery Dair with Emma Dair’s King Ellesar de Sauvait. Dair and Genny Belton judged the in-hand classes and selected Dermot Horgan’s Rotherwood Top Of The Pops as champion broodmare and led champion. Standing in reserve was Vincent O’Driscoll’s Drominidy Jessica.
Michael J. Galvin won the show pony yearling class and took the youngstock championship ahead of John Dinneen’s Janpete China Doll. Double Trouble under Abi Troy took the local working hunter, family pony under-12 first ridden prize and was crowned family pony champion ahead of Mary Collins’s My Little Beauty (Caoimhe Collins).
Judge Aubrey Chapman crowned Felicity Ward’s Sirius the working hunter champion and reserve went to Ann O’Grady’s Obsidion. Val Hyde’s Ballinpark Max was the middleweight hunter winner. Ann O’Grady’s Ballingowan Harmony won the lightweight hunter division and was crowned ridden horse champion. Val Hyde’s Ballinpark Max was reserve.
