THE Wicklow Area of the Irish Pony Society held a very successful Spring Show at the wonderful Spruce Lodge Equestrian last Saturday. The show was held in memory of the late Peter Molloy, the long-standing chairman and stalwart of the Wicklow Area who sadly passed away earlier this year.
As a mark of respect to Peter and his family, all funds raised on the day, from entries, raffle ticket sales and the delicious cakes on offer, which amounted to approximately €5,500, are going to the Irish Cancer Society.
With over 180 entries, and exhibitors travelling from all over the country, classes were competitive. The flat ponies competed indoors with the working hunter ponies and performance jumping ponies proving themselves outside on the sand. The working hunter ponies and their riders got to test themselves over another tough ‘Johnny Kyle’ track.
Everyone stopped for lunch when the lucky raffle winners were drawn with prizes kindly presented by Mrs Eileen Molloy.
The Wicklow Area Committee would like to thank the Kehoe family for kindly allowing the use of their amazing venue, all those who donated the wonderful prizes to the raffle, Omega Naturals, the title sponsor of the show and all those who helped in the build-up and on the day itself. It was certainly a show that Peter Molloy would have been proud of.
