THE first leg of the Jumpinaction.net and [Jod-Z] Secondary Schools interschools jumping league got under way on a rather chilly and windy Sunday morning at Killossery.
The novice individual class ran first, with the number one place going to Chloe Dunne and Cuffstown Princess from Mount Sackville, with a great time of 32.57. This winning round was closely followed by Alice Manoliu and Money Quid Queen representing St Wolstans taking second place in a time of 33.11.
Third and fourth places went to the Maynooth Education Campus representatives Ruby Lynch and Alannah Doran. Jasmine Ryan rode Greenfield Sammy into fifth for Drogheda Educate Together and Ciara Wall with Jasper Himself in sixth place completed the line-up for this exciting first day.
The Jumpinaction.net and [Jod-Z] secondary school team competition had 10 teams battling it out for the top spot. Four schools made it through to the jump-off, with a team from St MacDara’s and St Wolstan’s taking first prize. The second spot went to Drogheda Grammar School, closely followed by Eureka Secondary Blue, who finished in third. Loreto Balbriggan secured fourth position, followed by Eureka Secondary School Navy, who took fifth place and Mount Sackville snatched sixth to finish a highly competitive first league day.

In the 90/95cm Open show jumping championship class, it was Kilmorgan Star ridden by Ruby Morris, who flew over the line in a time of 31.57. Closest to her in a time of 33.60 was Charlotte Harten with Frenchpark Florence securing second place. The third place slot went to Beth Kirkpatrick from Maynooth Education Campus.
Crea Byrne was in the line up with Legends Mate taking fourth position in a time of 34.16, while Abbey Flynn from Sancta Maria College slotted into fifth. The last place went to Amelia McCarthy and Finsceal Knight representing Maynooth Education Campus.
The [Jod-Z] Primary schools’ novice individual class is perfect for those starting off in the Interschools. There were 10 competitors, who braved the weather in the afternoon, with five double clears. Winni Gunn and Candy, representing St Peter’s National School had the first clear of the Primary Novice competition.
Jessi Grogan from Scoil Mhuire Carlanstown secured a clear round on Molly M. The third clear went to Russell Boyd and Galtee Breeze from Dundalk Grammar Junior School. Twiglet, ridden by Chloe Mollaghan, representing Rathbeggan National School, were the fourth clear of the afternoon, followed by Clara Hourigan and her pony Kola from St Marnock’s NS.
The [Jod-Z] Open individual had a number of starters all hoping for successful clears. The winner was Robin Lynch riding Good Luck Yankee, with Eve Morrin and Almighty Alvin jumping into second place. The third place position was awarded to Cara O’Connor, following in her father Cian’s footsteps. Lily Dunne and Killeany Limited Edition took the fourth spot, with Nancy Caffrey and Freddie representing St Andrew’s Curragh taking fifth. Finally, the sixth place was won by Headfort representative Sadie Lynch and Inchydoney.
