THE North and South Munster Regions jointly held a show last Sunday at Hillcrest Equestrian Centre where, on the closing day of the Olympic Games, it was apt that one of the winners was the 22-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding Snoop Dogg.
Ridden by Meabh Hennessy in the Elementary DI52, the currently unregistered Crosstown Dancer bay was awarded a score of 68.61 by Paula Geiger (List 3), who also had the Ana Hughes-partnered ISH gelding Sligo Dark Knight, a 15-year-old Lancelot bay on the same mark. Both combinations had collective scores of 62.
In the second Elementary class (DI55), which was judged by Marie Hennessy (List 2), Hughes was again top of the leaderboard on 69.64%, but this time on her 11-year-old bay gelding Ballycahane Billy (69.64).
Hennessy and Geiger both had Sophia Mackey and her Scottish Warmblood gelding Wagner V.U., a 21-year-old bay son of Ludwig, as winners. Hennessy awarded the combination a score of 73.85% in the Preliminary DI6, while they topped Geiger’s leaderboard in the Novice DI27A on 72.24.
In the Hennessy-judged Prix St George, Sue Smallman saw off her sole rival when scoring 67.65% on Gloriant H and she followed that success up by partnering her Dutch Warmblood gelding, a 13-year-old son of Uphill, to win the two-runner Intermediate I, which was the only class on the day judged by Donie McNamara (List 1).
Not having as busy a morning judging as anticipated, following withdrawals, Angela Lyons took to the saddle to record an uncontested victory in the Hennessy-judged Advanced Medium class on board her Hannovarian gelding Woodcroft Santa Cruz (64.12%), a 16-year-old Sandro Hit bay.
