THE judging duties at the Dressage Ireland Eastern Region show at Marlton on Sunday were divided between Jane Whitaker (List 2) and David Lee (List 3).
The former judged the two Elementary classes and had Sara Glynn and the unregistered Granny Jean’s Unicorn at the top of both leaderboards. In the DI52, Glynn and her eight-year-old home-bred Irish Sport Horse mare by Jack Of Diamonds scored 69.31%, while they won the BD53 on 68.97. Eleven combinations came before Whitaker in the Preliminary DI5A, where the highest score (67.32) was recorded by Caroline Lynch on board Robert McHugh’s DI newcomer Hio Easter Rose. This four-year-old grey Irish Draught mare by Moylough Legacy was competed by Eddie Moloney in a small number of Showjumping Ireland-affiliated classes, including two RDS qualifiers.
Lee was a lot busier in the 20-strong Preliminary DI6 won by Phillipa Teggin and another ID mare, the six-year-old Dunbeggan Grey Mist chesnut Toberpatrick Peaches And Cream (68.65), who is out of a Classic Vision mare. Celia Taylor slotted into second with her traditionally-bred Irish Sport Horse mare Mistral Rose (67.69), a 2014 daughter of Clover Brigade. Lee also judged the 14-runner Novice DI21, where his overall leaderboard was headed by Sophie Orr riding the Connemara mare Tirnaskea Starstruck (66.21), a nine-year-old grey by Kays Moonlight. Whitaker’s winner of the DI27A was Cael Shanahan riding Eithne Scully’s Anglo European Studbook-registered gelding Santana (68.97), a six-year-old by Wish Upon A Star.
