THE 2022 Dressage Ireland season got underway last Sunday at the Lee Valley Equestrian Centre outside Crookstown, Co Cork where the South Munster Region staged its first show of the New Year.
At time of writing the results from the Preliminary classes hadn’t been uploaded to the DI website but, among those who competed at Novice level and above, the highest scores were recorded by international event rider Brian Morrison of Global Sport Horses
His successful mount for the day only was Julia Hammenberg’s Dutch Warmblood gelding Kensington By Tacx, a seven-year-old chesnut by Jazz on whom he scored 82.58% to win the Novice DI23 and 74.23 to top the leaderboard in the Elementary DI46.
The Northern Region winter league gets back into action at Gransha EC on Saturday next, January 29th, while the following afternoon sees the first of the South East Region shows at Spruce Lodge where they will be staging their popular two-day Classic over the weekend of July 30th and 31st.
The Midland & Western Region’s winter league also recommences next Sunday at Duffys EC in Claregalway while the first of three spring shows being organised by the North Munster Region has been rescheduled to Sunday, February 13th Clonlara EC.
The Leinster Region has published its list of shows up to early August, with the first three taking place at CoilÓg on February 6th and 20th plus March 6th (regional winter final). The popular three-day Dressage in the City Festival has been scheduled for June 4th to 6th.
The Eastern Region has published a list of 13 shows for 2022 – all taking place at Marlton Equestrian on the outskirts of Wicklow Town. These start on Sunday, February 20th and run up to Sunday, December 4th, with two shows being held in both August and October.
