A SUPERB display of horsemanship saw Michael Hughes and the 11-year-old BWP gelding Kashmir Van Oude Pastory lead the victory lap in the CSI3* Grand Prix at Knokke Hippique.
Out of 59 starters, only 12 made it through to the jump-off to fight for the win. It was truly a battle between nations and also between the Stephex riders, with Michael Hughes (USA), Zoe Conter (BEL) and Petronella Andersson (SWE) all in the line-up.
Hughes set off in a determined pace with Kashmir Van Oude Pastory and left nothing to spare as they crossed the line in a time of 0.17 secs, stealing the lead from Matias Albarracin (ARG) and Cannavaro 9. Guillaume Foutrier (FRA) and Clin Doeil du Paradis rode beautifully, but could not catch the top two, finishing in third place.
Win for Gordon in Pinneberg
Meanwhile, Ireland’s Jonathan Gordon landed a victory in the CSI YH 1.40m class in Pinneberg last Saturday when he partnered Capri to a clear in 31.58. The combination was one of 31 double clears, in 31.58 seconds, and the Irish rider picked up €2,500 for the win.
