IRISH Olympian Anna Merveldt and the 15-year-old Lusitano stallion Esporim, owned by Mario Greco, Michael Higgins and Giovanna Mazza, scored a personal best of 75.175% for second place in the Grand Prix Kür (Freestyle to Music) class at the five-star show in Munich-Riem, Germany, on Sunday, May 12th. Competing at just their second international show of the 2024 season, it was an important result for Merveldt and Esporim, as they are in contention for selection for the Irish individual dressage slot at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Austria’s Christian Schumach and Amplemento won the Grand Prix Kür on a score of 77.300%, with German rider Lisa Müller and Gut Wettlkam’s D’Avie FRH completing the podium on a 74.075% total for third place.
