CONGRATULATIONS to the very well-turned-out team from St Mary’s New Ross, who were rewarded for their journey to Hollypark Stables, when they won the TRI open team event at last week’s TRI Equestrian Interschools League competition.
St Mary’s New Ross was represented by Martha Power riding Autumn, Eva Kent and Milchem Havana, Junipierre ridden by Ava Donovan and Katie Costello on Tomello. Tara Moquet riding Stardust for Presentation Thurles and Mia Kent on Queenie Cornet from St Mary’s New Ross dead-heated to gain the league points on offer for members in the TRI Equestrian Open Individual league, whilst Martha Power from St Mary’s, again riding Autumn, gained a qualifying spot in the TRI Equestrian Premier 1.10m class.
The Equieire novice 90cm individual qualifier and the Hopoti novice 80 individual followed. Katie Coonan riding Hilltown Quality Cruise and sibling Laura Coonan on Mellview Another Clover for Ursuline Thurles gained their Equieire 90 qualifying spots in fine style.
Hopoti vouchers were presented to Elizabeth McCoy riding Corrabey Mac and Amy Crowley riding Jaffa. Both were riding for St Mary’s Charleville. Other placings in the competitions went to local competitors, but only EII members are eligible for league points and to qualify for the final. There were no novice teams or primary teams on the day.
Action moves to Wexford Equestrian this weekend, where the host school is Loreto Wexford.
