ALMOST 40 riders travelled to Wexford EC to contest the final of Carne Riding Club’s dressage league last weekend.

Seven combinations took to the arena in the primary class, with Three Rocks RC rider Monica Nurney and Votre Plaisir taking both the class win and overall league victory.

The advanced primary league saw 12 riders take part and it was Waterford RC rider Penny Molloy and Temple Princess Phoebe who secured the red rosette. This also secured her the overall title, relegating Anne Clune and Ragazalla Bella to second place in the league.

The intermediate class had a field of 10 riders, with the scores extremely close. Local rider Nessa O’Sullivan from Carne RC and her homebred Moondance took top spot on the day, which also secured her the overall intermediate title. The advanced intermediate class had five riders take on the final test. Carne also won this class but this time it was Melanie Hammel on Taylor Slaney Cruise heading the line-up for the class and league title.

Just three riders contested the open class, with two of them up for the league title.

Victory on the day went to Ian Grace (Carne RC) riding Brocknas Orb who won the class but the overall open league title went to Melissa O’Connor and Ashwood Bouncer.
