THE RoR Tattersalls Scottish thoroughbred ridden show horse series championship was won by the Aimee Dryden-owned and ridden Inch Manor.
The 11-year-old Fruits Of Love gelding was bred in Ireland by Denis Hayes out of the Erdelistan mare Erald-De-Mo and ran in three point-to-points here before being exported to Britain where he failed to win in six outings on the track.
This championship was judged by Goffs UK director, Jeremy Mactaggart and his wife Kate who is a sister of Kilkenny-based British international event rider, Nicky Roncoroni.
McCormick double
FOR the second year in succession, John McCormick’s home-bred Brookllan Lady Isabella won her pony breeding class. Now two, the black filly is by Derwent Rainbow Bandit out of Brookvale Whispering Breeze.
Smiley triumph
ANOTHER Irish class win in the pony division came in the Mountain & Moorland ponies under saddle section where Horse of The Year Show tickets were on offer.
Claiming the red rosette and the all-important ticket in the Dales class was the 12-year-old Lowside Noble John gelding Copleylane Ringo who was ridden by Carrickfergus’s Charlotte Smiley for her father Charles.
Byrne set for HOYS
IRELAND’s best result in the working hunter pony division – where all classes were qualifiers for numerous championships and finals but, most importantly, for the Horse of the Year Show – came in the 153cms class.
Co Meath’s Anna Byrne was called into second on her father David’s home-bred Fairyhouse Coco but any frustration she might have felt was dispelled when it was announced that the winners, Emily Gaynor-Smith and the Connemara gelding Ella’s Melody, had previously qualified so the HOYS ticket was passed to Byrne.
Top placings
RAYMOND and Victor Scott had some good results in the heavy horse turnout section, their sole win coming in the single horse class where the 13-year-old Dillars Cracker gelding Glebeview Shane was hitched to a twin axle dray.
The Limavady exhibitors recorded a second-place finish in the three-horse unicorn formation class, a fourth in the team of six, a fifth in the team of four and a sixth-place finish in the pairs’ class. Glebeview Shane featured in all.
