Rookery Haribo ‘an absolute gem’

THE reserve supreme champion, Rookery Haribo, left Hollypark Stables with at least two titles to his credit, much to the delight of the 11-year-old grey’s owner, Co Waterford’s Marianne Power, his four-year-old rider, Millie Twomey and her sister Penny.

Speaking of the Welsh gelding, a son of Uphill James Fox, Power said: “We bought him in Scotland almost exactly a year ago to get Millie going off the lead. She did everything with him this summer – Pony Club, combined training, etc. All three girls ride him and he’s an absolute gem!”

Syme wins draw for voucher

GEORGINA Beesley, of Beesley and Co ‘Country and Vintage Apparel’, donated a gift voucher to the recent Irish Pony Society championship show at Hollypark Stables, for which a draw was held among new members of the society.

The winner was Co Wexford’s Rozie Syme whose Cwymllynfell Ballerina won the mini novice lead rein class on Saturday under her daughter Freya Milne, whose sister Isla partnered the Hope Elroy mare to finish third in the first day’s Mountain and Moorland lead rein class.

Cork and Wicklow share cup

BEFORE the evening’s entertainment started on the Saturday of the IPS championships show, there was a parade of Area teams after which the Peter Molloy Cup was presented to the Cork and Wicklow teams, who shared first place having amassed the most points for nominated combinations entered in the show.

The Cork Area team comprised Becky Fleming, Emily Casey, Emily Palmer, Amber Lane and Roisin Casey while the Wicklow Area was made up of Charlotte Goor, Tristan Kelly, Elle Jordan and Harper Halpin. Both areas agreed to share the Cup for six months each.
