FRESH from making their International Grand Prix debut at Hartpury last week, Roland Tong and Ambience achieved further good results at Hickstead CDIO, finishing in 15th place in the Grand Prix on 65.200%.

An improved score of 68.475% in the freestyle left them in 10th, and Tong noted that continued exposure at this level is necessary to develop the Dutch-bred gelding’s confidence in the arena. Both classes were won by Carl Hester on Coral Ingham’s Wanadoo.

Abi Hutton, Courtney Stuart and Lucy Adams once again represented Ireland at small tour level at Hickstead. Stuart and Adams finished 11th and 12th respectively in Friday’s Inter I, while Talland-based Hutton notched up a personal best international result of sixth in the Inter I Freestyle. Riding the Hutton family’s Armagnac, she earned an average mark of 70.325%.

Making her international debut for Ireland at junior level, Kerry-based Sophie Daly finished 12th in the both the team and the individual test with Eicke II. The Sue Smallman-trained rider earned her best score of the week, 65.65%, in the freestyle, which was good enough for ninth place.
