TRULY Madly Chadly helped two riders to top five places in the latest round of the West Leinster Kavanaghs of Newbridge dressage league at Dunbyrne Stud in Kilmeague, Co Kildare.
Competing in the primary class, Truly Madly Chadly was first piloted by Kim Kearns from Killcarrick Riding Club to score 69.83% from judges Pat Creighton and Jane Whitaker. This was proved to be the best mark of the day by a primary combination and clinched them the red rosette.
Later on, Kearns’ fellow club member Renee Hanley took fifth with Truly Madly Chadly on a score of 55.63%. Second place went to Siobhan Harris and Dicksgrove Jewel from Ballyteague with 64.79%.
In the advanced primary class Michelle Wright took first place for Ballyteague with Panda Bear, scoring 70%. Host club members Rachel O’Sullivan and Clare Harrington took second and third place with their mares Firones Spear and Hunting Princess.
The sportsman class, which is open to riders graded intermediate and above, had three entries and was won by Jill Casey and Tigs and Jigs from Greenhills Riding Club.
In the intermediate class of 13 entries, Sorcha O’Loughlin and Cocoa & Cream from Cill Dara came out on top with 75.91%. Fionnuala O’Connor and Mighty Clever from Greenhills took second place on 72.05. Greenhills members took first place in the advanced intermediate and open classes. Helen Alexander and her bay mare Chatsworth Lux earned 72.41% in the advanced intermediate class ahead of Bray Summer Breeze and Kim McCann from Brook Lodge.
Deirdre Kane won the open class with her bay gelding Mighty Clever with 72.07% ahead of fellow club member Lianne O’Shea and Bento Van De Noordheuvel in second place with 71.21%
The league will continue on Monday, October 31st, when Calliaghstown Riding Club will play host at Calliaghstown EC.
