FOLLOWING their successful 2022 and 2023 trips, Tiggy’s Trust are excited to head to Blair International Horse Trials again in 2024, with their teams of young riders, who will compete against teams in the Pony Club Mounted Games and FEI Eventing competitions.
The Tiggy’s Trust riders have made a great impression on the Scottish organisers of Blair for their sense of fun, and their positive and supportive approach to all competitors. The Trust is thrilled to be heading back again and, like many, sad that this will be the last Blair, but it is working on ideas for 2025.
Alan Hatton once again will be the chef d’equipe of the Mounted Games team. His team from last year were amazing and there was so much excitement after a nail-biting finish. The Tiggy’s Trust team won in the final race against the best of the Scottish, so it will be a hard act to follow for this year’s team.
Success
Following the success of last year’s pony team competition, the organisers at Blair have laid on a special pony team competition again, so that the young eventers can compete against British teams in a CCIP2* competition.
The Horse Trials run from August 22nd to 25th and applications are now open on the www.tiggystrust.com website for any young rider who would like to compete. Preference will be given to those in their last year of ponies and those who have never travelled before.
Successful candidates will be invited to a two-day camp at Punchestown on August 7th and 8th.
The camp will be fully funded by Tiggy’s Trust, who are grateful to Punchestown for the use of their facilities and also to the top international trainers, Heather Coyle and Sue Smallman, who have agreed to train the young eventers and will be travelling with the group to Blair this year, alongside Alan Hatton.
In addition, education modules will be included at the camp that will give the riders the knowledge to understand both their pony’s needs when travelling and teach them the value of team support and friendship.
Funding for both the trip and the training camp is provided by Tiggy’s Trust. This will cover entry fees, horse transport and paperwork for travel, stabling, the communal mess tent and camping pitches and hook-up for riders and their families.
Participants will need to cover their own travel and insurance; together with feed for their horses and their share of the food bills. The Trust is overwhelmed by the generosity of the coaches and trainers, who continue to give their expertise to the young riders so freely.
Any riders wishing to apply to join the trip should apply on www.tiggystrust.com before July 8th.
