OUR hardworking friends in the ISPCA have a variety of all equines, great and small, to rehome coming into the winter period and once again, it’s hoped that some readers of The Irish Field may be in a position to offer a kind home.

Chairperson of The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA), Barbara Bent, said the Charity has a good variety of well-handled horses, ponies and cobs, ready for rehoming.

“We always get a great response and support from readers of The Irish Field when it comes to offering kind homes for suitable horses and ponies and with the winter approaching, it’s time to rehome some of them so that we can make room at our two centres in Longford and Cork to cater for the inevitable welfare cases that will come into us over this winter,’’ explained Barbara.

Big Selection

From small 12hh ponies to sturdy cobs and horses, there’s a big selection on offer and it’s well worth a visit to www.ispca.ie to check out what’s available. Among the smaller brigade of ponies, are Angel and Flash, two lovely three-year-olds, currently unbroken, who have been very well handled and should make ideal riding ponies for children when broken.

Biscuit is a lovely 12hh pony who changes colour several times a year from grey in summer to blond in winter.

Currently unbroken, he’s just about to start his education and should be riding away by Christmas.

Tess is a handsome three-year-old bay filly, approximately 14hh who has been in the care of the ISPCA since she was just days old.

“Tess is a real smasher, she’s show material, a good mover who loves to show off her paces,’’ said Barbara who said that she was found beside her dead mother when only days old.

She has been in the care of the ISPCA ever since.

Yates is described as a terrific little five-year-old black pony with a white blaze who really likes his work and would be ideal for older children who can already ride.
