WELCOME to the AIRC fold to the new Golden Grove Riding Club, based in Roscrea Equestrian Centre.
Founded by David Maher, the Golden Grove RC hosted its first show jumping riding club competition of the season in the West Midlands Region recently on Sunday, June 20th last.
The ‘Back to Jumping’ competition kicked off with a 60cms class which provided a lovely introduction back into competition and for new riding club members. First and second spot went to Clonshire Riding Club members, Michelle Kelly on Donetello Dreamer and Mary O’Sullivan on Irish Mist respectively.
The 70cm class was a fantastic colourful course and ideal for young horses and green riders. Taking top spot was Golden Groves Samantha Hayes on Ballyegan Bart. David Quinlan took second spot on Old Camp Lucky Lilly.
Clonshire member Orlaith Cuddihy and Jaffa took the red ribbon in the 80cm class. Pat Ronayne of Coolbell Riding Club picked up second place.
Next up was the 90cm class, the two phase class only gave four double clears with speed being the deciding factor. Coolbells Pat Ronayne and Oak Ale Captain made the trip from Dungarvan worthwhile, winning with 35.72.
It was a male dominated affair in the final metre class of the afternoon. Unicorn club member Padraig Quinn took home the top prize in a time of 48.49 with Simon Probin on-board LNG Tallyho took second with a time of 51.16.
