FLAT jockey Billy Lee had a busy weekend, completing a treble at Down Royal on Friday, before ride judge duties in the Racehorse to Riding Horse class at his local Newcastle West Show last Sunday.

Group 1-winning flat jockey Billy is from Ballingarry and his grandfather, Captain James Lysley, stood the famous thoroughbred stallion Candleabra, sire of Heidi Hauri’s Olympic bronze medallist Jessica VI, near Rathkeale.

Shamrock Breeze, She’s Quality and Keke provided the Down Royal treble horsepower for local hero Lee, the focus of selfies and photos with Newcastle West showgoers.
