GLENAVY’s Niamh McFall became the first recipient of the new Christine Walsh memorial perpetual cup when crowned leading rider at last weekend’s autumn two-day Grand Prix show at Killossery Lodge Stud.
As a show jumping judge, Christine was very much associated with the Glynn family’s north Co Dublin venue, while the cup was presented to the show by Helena Fitzgerald at whose REA Fitzgerald Chambers in Manor Street, Dublin City, Christine worked as an accountant/office administrator for 17 years.
In recalling her great friend, who died in August 2020, Helena remarked: “Christine was the closest person in the world to me other than my husband, Des. I presented the cup to the show as I just wanted to do something in her memory.”
