LAST Saturday was a marathon one for Conor Sheridan, who went from a wedding in Westport to Kilguilkey International with a Clarecastle Show stop-off added along the way.
Conor, who works in Horse Sport Ireland’s breeding department, has doubled up as an escort at the annual Rose of Tralee, so there was a double bonus last weekend. Not only did he attend the wedding of the 2017 Sligo Rose Lisa Maloney and Barry McGuire last Friday, but he also met the 1969 Rose of Tralee winner Eileen Slattery, whose brother Michael is the Clarecastle Show chairman.
“From the wedding in Clonacool in Sligo to the Castlecourt Hotel in Westport for the afters, left there at 3am and got home to Clara at 5.20am. Up at 9.30am to feed, look after the yard and Regumate the mares that need it, then on to Clarecastle before making for Kilguilkey. The poor Golf doesn’t know what happened it this weekend,” Conor said afterwards.
