NINE-year-old Fern O’Reilly from outside Clonmel in Co Tipperary proved her stickability, while out hunting with the Tipperary Foxhounds last weekend.

Young Fern was jumping a huge double bank with her brilliant 11.2hh pony, when she got pulled back by the branch of a tree and ended up jumping the second part of the bank behind the saddle.

“She managed to stay on, she didn’t become dislodged at all on landing,” Fern’s mother Deirdre told Pony Tales.

“She’s a regular on the hunting field. Saturday was massive, she had to cross unbelievable double drains, but her little pony Bomber is fantastic, he’s a seasoned hunter.”

Deirdre added: “She plays a lot of pony games with the Pony Club and the Mounted Games Association of Ireland, so that’s maybe where she gets her stickability as well. She also does a lot of cross-country and minimus.”

The video of the branch incident was captured by Tipperary Field Master Aidan Fogarty, who was in the right place at the right time! Unfortunately, it was not possible to reproduce it in print, but you can see see it on the Tipperary Foxhounds Facebook page.
