AS the summer draws to a close and the evenings are getting shorter, so comes to an end the much enjoyed agricultural shows.

With only a small handful left for the rest of the year, now is as good a time as any to get your horses and ponies out and about before the winter months set in.

The 67th annual Clonaslee Show will take place next Sunday (September 8th) at the Clonaslee Community Centre grounds in County Laois. Combining competitions with entertainment, exhibitions and excitement, there is something for all the family on this great day out.

Equine classes include all the usual horse and pony showing classes. The Irish Draught Colt Foal Championship has a prize fund of €1,000 sponsored by Horse Sport Ireland as part of the HSI National Showing Championship series. The Connemara three-year-old Filly All Ireland Championship also has a prize fund of €1,000 Sponsored by Parkmore Equestrian Centre Ballinasloe and Fr Christy McCormack.
