A VERY special night was held recently in Gullanes Hotel, Ballinasloe to congratulate Irish Pony Club stalwart Liz Scott on her upcoming retirement as Area Representative after 45 years of service in the Galway region.
Liz was presented with a magnificent crystal vase and a beautiful memoir in pictures, together with tributes from District Commissioners, Area Representatives and parents. The presentations were made by Michael Essame, Chairman of the IPC Executive, East Galway Hunt Pony Club DC Ruth Waldron and Susanne Naughton.
Paying tribute to the work of the IPC, Liz emphasised the need to pay special attention to the young members, the future of the Pony Club and also praised the young riders she had taught, some of whom are now competing successfully at European and Olympic levels.
Liz, who wears several hats including as an FEI senior international judge and breeder of Shalom Dundee, the Guinness novice champion at Dublin, thanked everyone who came to her special night. In particular, she drew attention to the many young people who were there. Not that the Pony Club legend is dropping the reins completely as she will continue to support and be involved with the IPC, an organisation she has made an immense contribution to.
