In the market for a nice horse?

BREEDERS can sometimes find numbers piling up and one such is Jenny Doran who, riding her Irish Sport Horse gelding HorsePlay Clover Star, was reserve in the Elementary Category 3 championship at the first stage of Dressage Ireland’s Winter Finals held in Greenogue on Good Friday.

The Swords, Co Dublin-based competitor will be going back eventing now with the nine-year-old home-bred son of Captain Clover, who she also show jumps, which means she has decided to put his half-brother, HorsePlay Diamond Matrix (by Carrick Diamond Lad), on the market. The 12-year-old was 10th in Friday’s Prix St George.

“He’s a very special horse and I’d only let him go to a really good home,” said Doran. “But currently I’m riding three a day (including Matrix’s five-year-old full-brother), working full time (though nicely flexi-time being self-employed) and have an unbroken four-year-old and three-year-old waiting for something to happen!”

All five are out of the Yvonne Monahan-bred Puissance mare, HorsePlay Jamboree.
