NOT all roads lead to the Dublin Horse Show and Kate Lawlor’s main seasonal target remains the Irish Pony Society’s summer championships show at Hollypark Stables in Co Limerick over the weekend of September 7th and 8th.

Fourteen-year-old Kate rides her father Brendan’s show pony Roseberry Make Believe, a 10-year-old black mare by Chiddock Time Lord out of the Horse of the Year Show winner and reserve champion, Roseberry Serendipity, who she mainly campaigned on the British circuit last season.

However, the mare was transferred to her present home in Co Offaly in time for the 2023 IPS championships in Mullingar, where the combination won the Elite show pony championship, the overall show pony title and the part-bred championship.

This year, Kate and Roseberry Make Believe claimed the show pony title at Balmoral, were reserve supreme champions at the Northern Ireland Festival in April, the Kildare/North Leinster Area show at Tattersalls Ireland last month and, most recently, at the Tipperary Area show at Ballylanigan House last Saturday.

Roseberry Make Believe was also judged show pony champion at the Limerick/Clare, Western Area and Wicklow Area shows and remains unbeaten in her class heading to the IPS summer championships.
