AFTER a break of many years, Jane Darragh is returning to the ranks of Connemara breeders but she will continue to closely follow the careers of the sport horses she has bred from a small number of mares.

Among those out of the deceased 1991 Carrolls Flight mare Valeska, who both evented and show jumped herself, are the 2007 Lux Z gelding Talking Point (CCI3*) and his 2007 full-sister Youve Got The Lux.

The latter was sold by Jane as a five-year-old at Goresbridge to Jim Derwin and, since early 2017, has been evented by British international Hayden Hankey. Following her most recent outing in the CCI4*-S at Aston Le Wells, where, on her dressage score, she finished 22nd of 100, Youve Got The Lux has been sold into the Massachusetts yard of Ashley MacVaugh.

Three weeks ago, Hankey won a Novice class at Warwick Hall on the Darragh-bred Power Of Love. Out of another Lux Z mare in UC Lux Z Flame, this 2015 Subtle Power gelding was sold privately by Jane as a two-year-old to Michael and Rachel Lyons of Kilmastulla Sport Horses for whom he won many times in hand before being sold to England. Although she has sold UC Lux Z Flame, Darragh has retained her three-year-old gelding by Chillout.
