MANY congratulations to John O’Neill, Castlelyons, and Harry Roch-Perks, Kinsalebeg, winners of the U12 IPC Mackey National Hunter Trial Championships at Moorefield Kennels, Ballinaboola in Co Wexford on September 26th last.

A presentation of the prizes won on the day was made two weeks ago by District Commissioner Orla Nicholson at Woodbine Hill, Kinsalebeg, Youghal, Co Cork.

John’s winning mount was New Forest pony Denny Royal Lady (aka Lady) and Harry was mounted on Rock N Rollercoaster (aka Starbro).

Both boys flew around the course finishing 10 seconds clear of their nearest rivals to clinch victory. Harry also finished in sixth place in the individual competition following on from his victorious round in the pairs.

It was a memorable day for the West Waterfords as pony club member Annemarie Hynes finished third in the Hunting Horn competition.

The West Waterford Pony Club extended their thanks to Aiden Foley for coordinating the training plan for the competition and to the coaches, Pauline Dahill and Ashling O’Brien, and of course their ever enthusiastic DC Orla Nicholson.

The club celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2019 and has over 50 members.
