KILTROGUE’s Anita Algierowicz and partner Gerry Kyne went their separate ways last Sunday morning but both returned home with a winner.
Anita recorded her success in the Derryronane Stud-sponsored five-year-old class at the Western Region’s eventing starter series at the Galway Equestrian Centre. There, she partnered the Sean and Geraldine Quinn-owned and bred Irish Sport Horse gelding Cairnview Crystal Springs, a son of Loughehoe Guy.
Gerry’s travels took him to the North Galway Foxhounds’ point-to-point in Belclare where he saddled the Paul O’Neill-ridden Miss Carli Fay to land the five-year-old and upwards adjacent hunts’ maiden.
Disappointingly, only two runners went to post but, from all reports, it was a very exciting race with Kyne’s eight-year-old Califet mare making all the running to beat Delta Melody by one and a half lengths.
“We have a mixed yard here, mainly producing young horses,” revealed mother of two Anita who moved to Ireland from her native Poland 13 years ago.
“When I first started competing here I was very much into show jumping but, in the last couple of years, I’ve been doing more and more eventing.
“Gerry trains a few point-to-pointers but is mainly pre-training horses for others. We break and school a lot of horses, thoroughbreds and sport horses.”
