DUE to a funeral taking place locally, the final of the Eventing Ireland Western Region combined training league was postponed from last Sunday to tomorrow at the Milchem Equestrian Centre of regional chairman, Ralph Conroy.
Going into the final, the leagues are headed by Caroline Lynch and the five-year-old Irish Draught mare Hio Easter Rose (80cm), Jason Doerflinger with the similarly-aged ISH gelding Milchem Gemstone (90cm) and Duncan McFadyen and the six-year-old ISH mare Rutland Flamenco (110cm).
Two combinations are on nine points apiece at the top of the 100cm league, Priya Cosgrave with the 14-year-old 128cm gelding Paulank Redbreast and Katie Gibbons with the 13-year-old ISH gelding Milchem Free Spirit.
Dressage phase
Tomorrow’s dressage phase will be judged by Marian Slattery, while Conroy continues in the role of show jumping course designer.
In changing weather conditions, the Western Region held a very successful training day last Friday at the Ballinasloe showgrounds, where the day’s coaches were Heather Coyle (show jumping) and Jane Kinsella (dressage).
