THE Boswell Team hosted last week’s TRI Equestrian Interschools, with classes running in both arenas all day.
The TRI Equestrian-sponsored open classes ran in the main arenas, with the open team from Loreto College Wexford: Wex Gal and Amy Griffith, Bells Nugget ridden by Isabell Walsh, Cojorojo and Kate Jones and Hannah Rose Roche riding A Little Bit of Twinkle, emerging as winners on the day, ahead of Newbridge College, represented by Gorm ridden by Lucy McCarthy, Ashwood Ramiro Diamond ridden by Ellen O’Neill and Blessington Prince Royal and Eva O’Neill.
The team from Kilkenny College - Carraun Ferdy ridden by Georgia Queally, Glenrock Lisa ridden by Gloria Queally, Ballycreen King and Lucy Keane and Rachel McMonagle on North Star Hunter, were third. Fourth place went to Daisy Daisy and Amber Farrell, Kyle Lad and Holly Spencer and Tabitha McGee on Epona representing Gorey Community School.
The TRI Equestrian open Individual class was won by Sophie Rhatigan riding Bertragh Boy for Glenart College. Amber Farrell and Daisy Daisy from Gorey was second, ahead of Bells Nugget and Isabelle Walsh from Loreto Wexford. Fellow Loreto pupil, Hannah Rose Roche and Hop was fourth with St Gerard’s Bray’s Molly Britton and Ardeo Dime and MJ and Ellen O’Neill from Newbridge in fifth and sixth respectively.
The final open class of the day was the TRI Premier 110 qualifier. Lucy McCarthy riding Gorm for Newbridge College took the first qualifying spot. Hazel Walsh riding Fortside Riot for Alexandra College also qualified, as did Bonnie O’Neill riding Red from Newbridge and Bondaree and Emma Byrne from Avondale CC Rathdrum.
The winning Hopoti Novice team at the Boswell Interschools was Loreto Wexford - WNDA Toby (Caitlin Griffith) Starlight Express (Aoife Griffith), Churchland’s Liberty (Freya Barry) and Tricky Stephen D (Faye Howlin)
Hopoti Novice teams
The Loreto Wexford novice team were victorious in the Hopoti Novice team class to produce a clean sweep in the teams’ competitions for the Co Wexford school. WNDA Toby and Caitlin Griffith, Starlight Express and Aoife Griffith, Churchland’s Liberty with Freya Barry and Tricky Stephen D ridden by Faye Howlin represented Loreto in this class. In runner-up spot was the team from Tullow Community School - Clonfin Lolacious and Caoimhe Curran, Slieve Rushen Don ridden by Muireann Tooher, Lumcloon Max ridden by Lauren Kehoe and Kaleesi Stormborn ridden by Una Farrell. Wesley College was third. The Wesley Team was Gowerglass Boy with Sadie Orton, Lantine Tulip ridden by Amelia Henly and Quo Vadis of Heritage Z ridden by Emily Martin. Scoil Mhuire Trim, Newbridge College and St Gerard’s Bray were fourth, fifth and sixth.
Part of the victorious Loreto novice team, Caitlin Griffith and WNDA Toby took first place in the Equieire novice 90cm class. Michelle Murphy and Anvil Lady from Gorey gained a qualifying spot, as did Sophie Evans riding Transition for Curragh Community College, Katie Kavanagh and Kincava Mia representing Dominican College Wicklow, Una Farrell and Khaleesi Stormborn from Tullow and Sadi Orton from Wesley on Gowen Haas Boy.
The Hopoti Novice 80cm class was won by Olivia Condon riding Clooney Breen Poit from Newbridge College. Rosehill Bonnie ridden by Layla White from St Mary’s College was second and East Glendalough’s Louisa Smith on Rowdown Archer was third.
Primary individual
Anna Sarsfield riding Glenhead Summer from Kilmore NS won the EII 75cm primary individual league class, with Peter Connolly from Castlepark NS and Racheal’s Rory in second and Mark O’Neill from St Brigid’s NS Foxrock riding Harvnelds in third.
Boswell also hosted a 65cm class, in which CBS Senka ridden by Mary Kate Kelly from Screen NS claimed the red rosette and a fun 50cm class was won by Maggie and Peter Connolly from Castlepark.
The team from Screen NS including Capall Dubh ridden by Frankie Rath, CBS Senka ridden by Mary Kate Kelly, Curraghmore Sparrow and Shannon Griffith and Creevagh Lass and Hannah Kavanagh won the primary team class.
Action moves this weekend to the west, where Ower Equestrian Centre is the host and to the south east, where Bridgetown CC host an event in Wexford EC.
