URSULINE College hosted its postponed TRI Equestrian Interschools event on St Patrick’s Day at Tipperary Equestrian Centre. This most enjoyable event attracted lots of competitors, in the main from local schools.
The TRI Equestrian open league event was won by the host school, who also came second and third. The winning team was Everdeen Waldstar Z and Hilary Brannigan, Daisy ridden by Grace Ormond, Ryan and Grace Maher and Hello Noble Lady ridden by Alanna Fagan.
The equivalent open individual event was claimed by Holly Treacy on Brock Blizzard from Borrisoleigh. This combination also claimed victory the previous day at Hollypark Equestrian. Other league points were gained by Brona Keane and Krafty Krackers from Ursuline College, Aimee Byrne and Major Profile from St Mary’s Naas, Kinamara Miller Boy and Sarah Delany from Ursuline College and Max Doyle riding Lotti from Colaiste Mhuire Thurles.
The last open event, the TRI Equestrian premier 110 class was won by Major Profile and Aimee Byrne from St Mary’s Naas, with Max Doyle from Colaiste Mhuire Thurles, this time riding Summerdale Stride of Pride, in second. Sarah Delaney riding Kylebeag Showtime for Ursuline and Emili Smith on Milchem Allstar from Newbridge College were third and fourth.
Ursuline College also won the Hopoti Novice team event. This time, the host school was represented by Ballinkings Zara and Amelia Harold Barry, Classic Piper ridden by Siun Coleman, Flight of Earls Wagtail and Sarah Delaney and Foxy Lady ridden by Brid Ryan. Rival Thurles school, the Presentation, took the runner-up spot. Sunny Sky ridden by Lucy Healy, Monaghstown Rose and Ava Carroll, Let Me Talk ridden by Sophie Thompson and Ellie Murphy and Emma O’Meara made up the Presentation team.
TRI Equestrian Open Team winners at Hollypark was the St Mary’s Secondary School New Ross team of Cash Advance (Ava Donovan), Milchem Havanah (Eva Kent), Tomello (Katie Costello), Autumn (Martha Power) and connections
St Gerard’s Bray were rewarded for their trip when taking third place in this competition. The team members were Chesterfield Erin Curtis with Ali Condron, Harvey Ventura and Lilly Maloney, Cluanin Johnstown Grey ridden by Saoirse Di Biasi and Cloonan Hannah and Charlotte Dodd. Cistercian Abbey Roscrea and Colaiste Dun Iascaigh took the remaining league points on offer.
In the Equieire novice 90cm qualifier, confined to second level pupils, only Sean Fenton on Silver for St Michael’s Dublin, Isobel Roche and Simply Maddy from Presentation Mitchelstown and Lucy Clinton and Ella representing Gaelcholaiste Chéitinn Clonmel gained qualifying slots.
Sophie Hand on Kilrush Green Grass from Clerihan NS won the Hopoti Novice Individual class, while Peter Connolly from Castlepark NS was victorious in the Primary individual class.
Hollypark
Also on last weekend was the Hollypark TRI Equestrian Interschools event, which ran on Sunday. St Mary’s New Ross made the most of their trip from Co Waterford to take the win in the TRI Open Team event. The St Mary’s team was Cash Advance (Ava Donovan), Milchem Havanah (Eva Kent), Tomello (Katie Costello) and Autumn (Martha Power).
In the open individual league event, points were gained by Holly Treacy representing St Joseph’s Borrisoleigh riding Brock Blizzard, Mia Kent on Queenie’s Cornet from St Mary’s New Ross, Elizabeth McCoy from St Mary’s Charleville on Corabbey Mac and Eva Kent and Milchem Havana from St Mary’s New Ross.
In the TRI Equestrian 110 event, Newline Lucky Lui (Lexi Treacy) St Joseph’s Borrisoleigh came first, Autumn (Martha Power) from St Mary’s New Ross were second, with Qerone HDH (Lexi Treacy) from St Joesph’s Borrisoleigh in third qualified for the final, while Lilly’s Delight and Caoimhe Gammell representing Salesian College, qualified for the Equieire novice 90cm final.
Summer and Anna Sarsfield from Kilmore NS and Telynau and Ciara Sarsfield also Kilmore NS gained points in the EII 75cm primary league. Anna Sarsfield also placed second on her other pony. Wilma John (Catherine McCoy) from St Mary’s Charleville, Clever Rover (Eva Madigan) also St Mary’s Charleville and Cobra (Anna Tupalska) from Coláiste Dun Iascaigh Cahir were first, second and third in the Hopoti fun novice individuals.
The penultimate event before the final is being held this weekend in Mullingar Equestrian Centre with a full range of classes on offer.
