AMAZING ALF Z lived up to his name when he captured victory in last Sunday’s TRM/Show jumpers’ Club Spring Tour Grand Prix, worth €2,500, in Broadmeadows.

Owned by Stacey Watling, this eight-year-old Belgian-bred gelding is by Aganix du Seigneur Z, out of Alina, by Heartbreaker.

Having just moved up to this level at the end of last year, this is his first win at 1.35m. Partnered by Dermott Lennon, the duo recorded a jump-off time of 28.85 to head proceedings.

A total of 24 combinations lined out for the third round of the Spring league, which was supported by APM and incorporates the Hibernia seven and eight-year-old sport horse league.

Just two riders, Lennon and Jake Hunter, managed to produce a clear first round to progress to the jump-off.

Hunter was aboard Sandra Duffy/Ireland Horse Sport and Leisure Ltd’s 10-year-old gelding Satelittenflieger, which means Satellite Plane. By the Hannoverian stallion Stolzenberg, he is out of Egina, by Escudo II.

They crossed the finish line in 29.09 to secure the runner-up spot.

Third place went to Jack M Murphy riding Valerie O’Reilly’s MHS Oklahoma (Kannan x Mister Blue), bred by Michael Brennan. As the fastest four-faulters, they stopped the clock at 66.25, but with one fence on the ground.

Sven Hadley took the next three places; he rode his own eight-year-old Make It Easy HSH (Don’t Touch It M x Landos) into fourth place in 66.82, with four to add.

He took fifth aboard his stallion Phenomene Bleu VDM (Diamant De Semilly x Nabab De Reve) having four faults in 70.16.

His own gelding, the seven-year-old Maximum Numero Too HSH (Aganix Du Seigneur x Numero Uno), bred by Eamon McArdle, slotted into sixth in 70.86.

This weekend sees the next two rounds of the TRM/Show jumpers’ Club Spring Grand Prix and Hibernia young sport horse league take place.

Today, Saturday, the fourth round is in Wexford Equestrian, while tomorrow, Emerald Equestrian will host round five.
