TARA Brandon’s CW Luiboutain, ridden by Katie Nallon, won Saturday’s featured 1.35m Two-Phase Special at Mullingar.
By Luidam out of Captain Beauty by Captain Clover, the nine-year-old mare has been partnered by Nallon since May last year.
A 59-strong start list saw 18 combinations produce a double clear round with Nallon’s the fastest in a time of 32.99 to claim the win.
The Army Equitation School’s Lt James Bracken riding the Minister For Defence’s DDC Ard Rua, a mare by Goodluck VDL out of WKD Amy by Padinus, bred by Derek Conway, took the runner-up spot in 33.27.
Third place went to Jake Hunter aboard Sandra Duffy’s Annaghmore Beach Cruise (Beach Ball x Cruising) in 35.48.
Harry Wood guided Richard Kirby’s eight-year-old BP Rocket Man (Stakkato Gold x Quidam Junior) into fourth in 36.04, while Joyce Veld and Miley Dunning’s Corraghoe Bounce (Lux Z x Cruising) placed fifth.
Darragh Ryan completed the line-up in sixth place with his own eight-year-old Belgian-bred mare Lady Blue Du Pont Letot.
