THE Horseware Ireland Team Showjumping South West regional qualifier was hosted by Earls Well Riding Club at Maryville Stables, Co Cork, last Sunday.

Ten teams went to the post with three from Highland Lodge, two each from Earl Well, Kerry and North Cork Riding Clubs and one from Knocknamanna.

WIDE OPEN

After all riders had completed their first round, six teams were on zero points leaving the competition wide open and all to jump for.

In beautiful sunshine, the second round took its toll on horses and riders alike, with just two teams finishing on zero.

The Earls Well green team of Chloe Foley (IFES Limited Edition), Kate O’Shea (Send Me On), Lauryn Waugh (Creevagh Fermiro) and team captain Fiona Fitton (Ballinhassig Prince), and Kerry Riding Club 1 team of Kate Logan (West Bay), Noelle Kirby (My Cremlin), Pat Sheehan (LVS Buzz Lightyear) and team captain Katy Scott (Paeona Du Mesnil) to ensure a two-way jump-off.

With Scott the first to take it on, an unfortunate course error left the door open for Fiona Fitton to canter home clear for a victory for Earls Well Riding Club who have booked their ticket to the 2019 Dublin Horse Show.
