TAKING the first rosette of the day in the Cavan Kingsland 138cms/90cms class was Erin Crawford. Riding Sundance Prince, the Donegal rider lodged the winning round, clear in 24.82 seconds.

Almost a second behind was Katie Power and Glountane Beauty in 25.92, while Bob Reynolds steered Slua into third, clear in 26.26.

John Murray picked up his first rosette of the championships when slotting into fourth place with Ruscai Earl Boy, clear in 26.72, ahead of Ellen Kenny and Double Dash Dot in 27.53. Sixth place was occupied by Trenier Lewis and My Diamond, 27.97.

John Murray made no mistake in the Cavan Kingsland 138cms/1m when claiming the honours with Ruscai Earl Boy. No stranger to the winner’s enclosure, the Dublin rider lodged the winning round of clear in 22.75 seconds. Not content with the winner’s rosette, Murray lodged another clear with Quantum Qt in 23.02 for second place.

A prolific winner in the pony ranks, Ciaran Nallon scorched home with Sparkling Delta Dawn in 23.18 for third place. Fourth place was occupied by Jessica Foley and Mr Richie, clear in 23.19, while Katie Power was back in the ribbons, claiming fifth place with Glountane Beauty, clear in 24.05. Little stood between fifth and sixth as Trudie Mc Goosh and Lily Clover clocked 24.08 for sixth place.

Arena two featured the 148cms riders battling it out in the Cavan Kingsland 90cms Championship.

Leading the victory lap were Aaron Killoran and Flyover again, clear in 25.56 seconds. Gray was chased home by Hannah Bridge riding Tullybroom Noore, who lodged a clear in 25.75. Third place went to Jade Singleton and Ballagh Express, 29.27.

The 148cms/1m championships saw a tie for first place as both Carl Webb (Cray Dreamer) and Olivia Roulston (Drumdoit V-Tec) lodged a clear round in 27 seconds.

Third place went to Alex Power when she recorded a clear round with Theo Jackson in 28.51 seconds.

Olivia Roulston picked up another championship win when she clinched victory in the 148cms/1.10m championship. Riding Sparkling Apache Gold, she galloped through the beams in 25.29 seconds.

Samuel Wilson was fractions behind with Quatum Starlight in 26.95, while Ellie Humphries and Prospect Eddie slotted into third when clear in 28.09.

In the 128cms/70cms championship, 13 of the 18 competitors lodged double clears, while in the 128cms/80cms championship, six of 31 competitors lodged double clears to share the spoils. (Turn to page A66-69 for full results including all double clears).

Dylan Ward led the victory lap in the 128cms/90cms championship when he recorded the fastest time with Madges Jane Lady in 21.37 seconds. In second place was Ashley Dunne riding Camizon, clear in 22.60, ahead of Lewis Trenier and Trendy Tax, clear in 22.90.

RETIRING RIDERS

As always the retiring rider’s class on Saturday evening proved to be a popular event.

This year 15 riders were presented with rosettes from Cavan Equestrian Centre. Taking the honours in the show jumping competition was Kirsten Fynes riding Irish Builder.

The fancy dress prize went to Jessica Johnson and Caitlin Duffy, who dressed up as characters from Harry Potter.
