Results: Now two years at Karlswood Stables, the phenomenal 11-year-old stallion has been placed in every Grand Prix start this summer, including winning the five-star Grand Prix in Sopot, Poland, and placing second in the five-star Grand Prix in Rotterdam. They finished 10th in the Rolex Grand Prix of Aachen, and earlier in the year, fourth in a five-star Grand Prix in Wellington, Florida. In their last outing before the European Championships, they jumped a double clear (with one time fault) in the Aga Khan Nations Cup in Dublin, to the delight of the home crowd.

This combination were on the Irish team at the 2015 European Championships in Aachen, Germany. Good Luck is described by O’Connor as his “horse of a lifetime”.

CHAQUI Z

Age: 11

Breeding: Chacco-Blue x Quinar Z

Final individual standing: 8th

Results: The Zangersheide-bred stallion joined Sweet Oak Farm as a seven-year-old and was produced to championship level by Sweetnam. Chaqui Z was campaigned at the young horse champions in Lanaken as a six and seven-year-old by Dutchman Gerben Morsink. This season they were members of the Irish team that won the Nations Cup in Wellington and Ocala in Florida, and they won a four-star Grand Prix at WEF. Chaqui Z jumped a double clear round in Falsterbo last July in one of their final outings before Gothenburg. The amazing stallion didn’t touch a pole until the final day of competition.

Sweetnam’s last Championship appearance was in Herning, Denmark, in 2013, with Amaretto Darco.

Results: This combination have been in partnership for six years and have enjoyed some special moments and championships. The Hannovarian stallion placed third in the 1.60m Global Champions Tour of London last month, and jumped a clear round in the Nations Cup in Falsterbo, Sweden. Back in February they finished fourth in the World Cup qualifier of Bordeaux and went on to place 17th overall in the FEI World Cup Final in Omaha, USA, All Star’s third World Cup Final.The pair were also on the European team at Aachen in 2015.

HECTOR VAN D’ABDIJHOEVE

Results: Although not taking part in the final round of the team jumping after a fall on Thursday, Allen and the Belgian-bred grey stallion are no stranger to podium finishes having won the five-star Grand Prix in St Gallen in June, and in the earlier part of the season placed second in the Global Champions Tour in Miami. They jumped a double clear round in the Nations Cup at Rotterdam. Bertram was part of the Irish team at the 2015 European Championships in Aachen with Molly Malone V.
