THE four-star Al Forsan International Show Jumping Competition took place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates last weekend, with Tipperary’s Breen brothers securing a number of placings.
After being placed on Saturday morning, Trevor Breen continued to make progress in the afternoon, with a third place in the 1.55m Grand Prix on board Highland President. His brother, Shane finished just outside the top 10 in 11th place with Scarteen.
The best Breen placing of the show came on Saturday, when Shane won the Young Horse one-star 1.20m Five-year-old jump-off class with Z7 For T, when they were best of the 24 starters.
Trevor and Luidam’s Warrior placed 10th in the four-star 1.30m class on Saturday out of 24 starters. He then rode Kannoon Blue into joint seventh position in the 1.40m Six-Bar class later in the day.
Sunday saw Trevor edge higher in the placings, when he finished fifth with Luidam’s Warrior in the 1.30m Jump-off class.
Riyadh
Meanwhile, Billy Twomey and Diego Del Caribe finished fifth in the five-star 1.55m Grand Prix at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. From a select start list of just 12, there were eight clear in the first round, who proceeded to the jump-off. Four of those jumped clear for a second time, with Twomey incurring an unfortunate four faults – but he was the fastest of the four-faulters to claim fifth place.
