SUNDAY concluded a super weekend for James Derwin, when he won the Amadeus Pony Trophy 1.25m Grand Prix with Milchem Original at the four-star show at Salzburg, Austria. The Irish performed well in the class, with Jack Cash on Comme Delicius Z placing ninth, followed by Ciara Cash on Ik Hansje van de Kalevallei in 10th.

Three Irish combinations finished in the top 10 of the FEI Pony Trophy Opening 1.30m class on Thursday. Alanna Fagan on Ballyfore Rosie placed fourth; James Derwin on Rincoola Babog placed sixth and Senan Reape on Air Line Ck Z placed ninth; all three jumped clear.

Paddy Reape on Creevagh Special came fifth in the European Youngster Cup U25 1.40m Opening class, while James Derwin rode Milchem Original into second place in the Amadeus Pony Trophy 1.15m class, followed by Jack Cash on Comme Delicius Z in eighth and Caitlin Kelly on Trendy Blue in ninth.

Another win

Paddy Reape rode Creevagh Special into eighth place in Friday’s European Youngster Cup U25 Masters 1.45m class, with Derwin winning the day’s Amadeus Pony Trophy 1.20m class on Milchem Original, with Cash on Comme Delicius Z in fifth and Kelly on Trendy Blue in eighth.

Five Irish combinations finished in the top 10 of Saturday’s FEI Pony Trophy 1.35m Grand Prix of Salzburg. Derwin rode Rincoola Babog into the runner-up position, behind British winner Lucy Capper on Oscar van de Beekerheide, who had the sole double clear of the competition. Fagan on Ballyfore Rosie placed fifth, followed by Cash on Quina van’t Gestelhof in eighth; Hugo Segrave on Barravalley Glory in ninth and Senan Reape on Air Line Ck Z in 10th.

After the fourth leg of the FEI Jumping Ponies’ Trophy, Ireland’s Annie Boland sits in second place on 32 points; with James Derwin sixth on 24 and Senan Reape ninth on 20.

Meanwhile, in Sunday’s European Youngster Cup U25 1.50m Grand Prix von Salzburg, Paddy Reape on Creevagh Special took the runner-up spot.
