MAYO’s Michael G Duffy recorded a three-star international win in Villach Treffen, Austria, last Friday night, just days after taking home the leading rider prize at the four-star show in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Riding Carl Hanley’s 10-year-old Irish Sport Horse Lapuccino 2 (by Livello), who was bred by Hanley’s father-in-law Sven Kapp in Co Galway, Duffy stormed to victory in the 1.50m Gaston Glock’s Championat.

One of 15 combinations through to the jump-off, the 21-year-old broke the beam almost two seconds faster than his nearest challenger, in 40.81 seconds, to collect €6,500.

The Netherlands’ Sanne Thijssen took the runner-up position with Celine M Z in 42.63 seconds, ahead of Belgium’s Christophe Vanderhasselt and Identity Vitseroel (0/0 42.91).
