DERRY’S Daniel Coyle was on the podium again in Ocala, Florida, at the weekend, when he and Incredible were runners-up in the $100,000 FEI CSI3* 1.50m Grand Prix. The Irish form didn’t stop there, as Tom Wachman rode Berlux Z into third place in the class.
From 32 combinations starting out in the first round, only five of them managing to jump clear within the time allowed. Four of those jumped clear again in the jump-off, the fastest being Mexico’s Carlos Hank Guerreiro, who stopped the clock in 40.66 seconds. Coyle certainly rode an ‘incredible’ round on his latest mount, but was a fraction too slow to beat his rival, finishing in 41 seconds exactly.

Wachman and Cathalina S had previously won the $35,000 CSI3* 1.50m Grand Prix qualifier at the venue. Out of 41 starters there were just six clear first rounds and only three who jumped clear again in the jump-off. Wachman was the fastest of these in 39.29 seconds, ahead of Brazil’s Eduardo Menezes on Ziloet Mystic Rose, who finished in 40.23 seconds to take second place and USA’s Adam Sklansky on Hakini, who was third in 41.20 seconds.
