THE podium at Tryon in North Carolina was dominated by the Irish on Saturday, when the three-star $120,000 1.50m Grand Prix saw Cork’s Conor O’Regan riding Manchester claiming second place, followed by Kilkenny’s Richie Moloney on Coco Beach in third.
There were 32 on the start list, eight of whom got through to the jump-off. Four of those jumped clear again second time out, with America’s Jacqueline Ruyle on San Chano proving unbeatable, when clear in 37.24 seconds and taking home the top prize of $39,600. O’Regan must have been pleased with his $24,000 runner-up winnings for his round in 38.71, while Moloney pocketed a generous $18,000 for third place in 39.46.
