FOURTEEN-year-old Alice Wachman is keeping up with her older brothers on the international show jumping circuit and landed an international victory in Knokke, Belgium, last weekend.
Riding SIEC Cros, Alice won Friday’s one-star 1.15m class when she was the quickest of nine clear rounds in 62.13 seconds. The pair jumped all clear rounds at the show and finished third in Saturday’s 1.20m when double clear.
Her older brother Tom (16) also had a good show with a number of placings which led him to be crowned the Hermes Leading two-star Young Rider of the show. Tom finished fourth in Sunday’s two-star Grand Prix with Dinaro. The pair were among seven combinations to make it through to the jump-off, where they finished with four faults.
Max Wachman, who also competed in the five-star division at the show, finished sixth with Ikaros when also faulting once against the clock. Victory in the two-star Grand Prix went to Germany’s Felix Hassmann with SIG Captain America.
Boleybawn Bella (ISH) shines
The six-year-old Irish Sport Horse mare Boleybawn Bella was ridden to victory in the six-year-old final at the venue by America’s Charlotte Jacobs, who is based at Greg Broderick’s Ballypatrick Stables in Thurles, Co Tipperary.
The Capri van Overis Z mare was bred by Ronan Rothwell and won the Dublin Horse Show four-year-old final in 2019. She was then sold to Jacobs and has been campaigned with much success since. The pair were the fastest of 10 double-clear rounds to earn close to €1,000.
As reported in last week’s paper, Jacobs has taken over the ride on Coolivio PS, previously ridden by Broderick, and at their first show together got off to a great start when winning the one-star Grand Prix on Saturday.
