TIPPERARY’s Shane Breen won a five-star 1.45m class at the Global Champions Tour in London on Sunday aboard the Irish Sport Horse CSF Vendi Cruz to collect just over €8,000.
Owned by Galway show jumper Brian Cassidy, the Ars Vivendi-sired 10-year-old mare was the fastest of nine clear rounds in a time of 62.14 seconds to top the podium at the spectacular Royal Hospital Chelsea venue.
Britain’s European young rider champion Harry Charles guided victor into second place (0/ 63.33) ahead of Italy’s Piergiorgio Bucci and Cochello (0/ 64.43).
In Saturday night’s 1.60m Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix, Denis Lynch was the best of the Irish when he finished in fifth place after three rounds of jumping with Rushy Marsh Farm’s RMF Echo (Virus de Laubry x Feo).

Home favourite Scott Brash made history when winning the Grand Prix for a second year in a row. Riding the nine-year-old gelding Mr President, Brash produced the fastest clear round in the jump-off to win his ninth ever Global Champions Tour Grand Prix, and his second this season, to become the winning most rider ever on the tour.
In the Global Champions League, Cork’s Shane Sweetnam and Indra van de Oude Heihoef helped Shanghai Swans to a runner-up finish in the Global Champions League. Shane Breen (Ipswich van de Wolfsakker) and Denis Lynch (RMF Echo) combined to guide Miami Celtics to third place.
The London Knights duo of Nicola Philippaerts and Ben Maher combined to give the home team their fourth win of the league and they are out in front with 299 points, ahead of Valkenswaard United in second and Miami Celtics in third place.
