Fecybelle sold

SHANE Carey’s nine-year-old mount Fecybelle has been sold to American show jumper Karl Cook. Maria Gretzer’s mare has an incredible record at two-star level in the past six month, winning three Grands Prix in-a-row and her FEI record shows a clean slate of faults since last September.

Paul O’Shea third

LIMERICK’s Paul O’Shea finished third and fourth in the 1.45m Grand Prix at the Spring II festival in Wellington, Florida, last Sunday. Riding Skara Glen Stables Skara Glen’s Chancelloress and Skara Glen’s Florencia, O’Shea was double handed in the nine-horse jump-off. He posted two more clear rounds to slot into third and fourth, respectively, earning €7,350. Victory went to Chile’s Samuel Parot and Atlantis.

Also at the Wellington venue, James Chawke finished fourth in Thurday’s 1.40m Table A jump-off class with Renee Walekr’s Eos. The combination picked up four faults against the clock, while Brian Cournane also faulted once in the jump-off to finish sixth with Glenbeigh Farm LLC’s Castlefield Dream.

Pair of wins for Kevin Thornton

LOUTH’s Kevin Thornton won two classes at the three-star show in Lanaken, Belgium, last week. His first victory came in Thursday’s 1.25m Table A when he guided IAI Investment Art International LTD’s seven-year-old Casall gelding Clever to the fastest clear in 66.34 seconds. He then went on to win the following days 1.25m two-phase aboard the seven-year-old Majinski VD Watertoren, another seven-year-old who is owned by Uburon BVBA.

Dutch win for

Alexander Butler

ALEXANDER Butler won the three-star Grand Prix qualifier in Kronenberg, The Netherlands, last Thursday. Riding his new mount Umours Batilly, an 11-year-old gelding by Quaprice Bois Margot, Butler was the fastest of 14 double clears in the two-phase class, breaking the beam in 34.04 seconds to win €2,000.

His other placing came in Sunday’s five and six-year-old class, when he guided Igor K to third place.

Butler has relocated from Kildare to base himself in The with Carlos Pinto.

Power wins again

WATERFORD’s Katie Power won her second Grand Prix in as many weeks when guiding the Irish Sport Horse pony Ghost Rider to win the 1.25m Pony Grand Prix at Lier, Belgium, last weekend. They came out on top after 10 combinations made it into the jump-off and their winning time was over two seconds faster than the next best finisher. Power landed victory in the Grand Prix at Sentower Park a week earlier.

Coyle third in Mexico

DERRY’s Jordan Coyle and Bold Prinz recorded a third place finish in the two-star Grand Prix in Mexico City last weekend, with the win going to Mexico’s Antonio Maurer (Chacstara). Some 13 combinations made it through to the second round where Coyle was one of nine clears, in 36.93 seconds, to earn €3,595.
