IRISH-bred horses had more success at the weekend, when FTS Killossery Konfusion (ISH) won Saturday’s CSI4* 1.50m Van Mossel Prize, the feature class of the day at Maastricht four-star show in The Netherlands. Ridden by Belgium’s Jos Verlooy, the 13-year-old gelding jumped one of eight clear rounds, out of nearly 40 entries, first time out to book their place in the jump-off. One of those who got through retired, leaving only seven combinations to battle it out for the top placings.
The pressure was on and only four of these managed another clear round, with Verlooy and FTS Killossery Konfusion being the fastest time on the clock of 30.49 seconds to claim the first prize. Next best was Marc Houtzager from The Netherlands riding Sterrehof’s Dante NOP (KWPN), who stopped the clock not far behind in 30.79 seconds. The Netherlands also accounted for the remaining two double clears, with Willem Greve on Pretty Woman van’t Paradijs (BWP) in third and Harrie Smolders on Monaco NOP (Holst) in fourth.
A delighted Verlooy said: “FTS Killossery Konfusion is a very fast and highly competitive horse. I believe I can win a lot of classes with this horse in the future. Today was my day, everything went smoothly! I had a nice forward distance on every fence, so I could ride the jump-off the way I had envisaged”, the rider explained following the class.
Killossery Konfusion (ISH) was bred by Frank and Laura Glynn at Killossery Lodge Stud in North Dublin. He is by SIEC Livello (HOLST) out of Killossery Kruisette (ISH) by Cruising (ISH)[TIH]. He is owned by Euro Horse BVBA.
