Win for John Hickey
SWEDISH-based Tipperary show jumper John Hickey won the national 1.50m Grand Prix at Högbo in Sweden last Sunday. Riding the 15-year-old gelding Fairplay van het Hellehof, he was the fastest of three clear rounds against the clock in 41.09 seconds to earn €20,000.
Two-star win for Michael G. Duffy
MAYO’s Michael G. Duffy scored a two-star win in Riesenbeck, Germany, last Sunday. Riding My Way B & V at just their first show together, he won the 1.35m two-phase when posting the quickest of 35 clear rounds in the huge class of 80 starters. Kellie Allen finished in fifth place with Cookie N Cream, while Christopher Megahey slotted into seventh with Mistery van het Hellehof. Eoin McMahon finished fifth in Sunday’s two-star Grand Prix at the venue aboard Chakra 9. The class was won by Germany’s Christian Kukuk and Mumbai.
Harry Allen third at Drammen
HARRY Allen finished third in the two-star Grand Prix in Drammen, Norway. Riding the 11-year-old grey stallion Clarity, who is owned by and has been produced by Kevin Thornton, Allen was one of five clear rounds in 42.23 seconds to earn €3,251.
