SLIGO’s Richard Howley put in a solid performance last Sunday to take sixth place in the CSI4* 1.55m Grand Prix at St. Tropez. Riding Chinook, he was first to finish his round in less than 40 seconds.
However, his hopes of a win in the feature class were dashed when the second fence in the jump-off fell to the floor and the combination crossed the line in 39.40 seconds.
Taking the win was top American rider Laura Kraut with Fleurette, fastest of the four double clears in the eight-way jump-off in 37.81 seconds.
Last Thursday, Howley took fourth place with Chinook in the CSI4* - 1.45m (LR) Grand Prix qualifier, clear in 62.31.
Howley was just over a second slower than the French winner Roger Yves Bost riding Lady Georgina Forbes’ Castleforbes Talitha, stopping the clock in 60.45.
Third place for Talbot
IRELAND’s Niall Talbot and Kobold VH Schloesslihof took their place in the line-up at the 1.30m class at Gorla Minore, Italy, going clear in 60 seconds.
