Henrick Von Eckermann is Roman King with Edward
WORLD number one, Sweden’s Henrik von Eckermann won his second five-star Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix in Rome last weekend riding the great King Edward. The pair saw off Germany’s David Will and My Prins van Dorperheide in second, just 0.20 seconds behind, while Sweden’s Peder Fredricson on Catch Me Not S and Andreas Schou on I Know finished joint third, clocking the exact same time in the jump-off.
Sligo’s Richard Howley earned €19,540 when finishing second in Friday’s 1.60m Table A. Riding HK Horses and Sarah Borthwick’s 12-year-old gelding Consulent de Prelet Z, he was clear in 60.59 seconds, finishing a close second to Frenchman Julien Epaillard with Donatello D’Auge.
Austria win EEF Final
AFTER winning a first ever European team medal at the FEI European Championships earlier in the month, Austria won last Sunday’s CSIO4* Longines EEF Series Final in Warsaw, Poland. The team of Katharine Rhomberg, Gerfried Puck, Max Kuhner and Alessandra Reich finished on a score of zero to see off Belgium in second place on 12 faults and Ukraine finished third with 21 penalties.
